Thigh Lift in Macon, GA
If you are like many people with pear-shaped physiques or who have lost a significant amount of weight, you know how difficult it can be to lose the extra fat on your thighs. Even with the best nutritional and exercise regimes, this stubborn fat seems to want to hold on for dear life! Dr. Joshua R. Groves, by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, can help you banish that bulge for good. Located in Macon, GA, the Georgia Center for Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery provides thigh lifts for patients in Macon, Warner Robins and the areas in and around Bibb County and Houston County.
What Is a Thigh Lift/Thigh Gap Surgery?
A thigh lift, or “thigh gap” surgery, is a cosmetic surgery procedure that reshapes the thighs by removing excess skin and fat from the inner and/or outer thighs.
During the procedure, which typically lasts three to six hours (depending on how much has to be removed), Dr. Groves will make an incision, separate the skin from the underlying fat and muscle, and trim the excess skin. He will then pull the remaining skin taut and close the incision.
At your evaluation, Dr. Groves will determine whether a medial (inner) thigh lift or lateral (outer) thigh lift is appropriate for you situation. Many people who have lost a significant amount of weight, through diet or weight-loss surgery, have sagging skin on their thighs. These patients often find that thigh lift surgery helps them achieve the thigh gap look they want for their legs.
Liposuction may also be performed at the same time as a thigh lift.
What Can I Expect After a Thigh Lift/Thigh Gap Surgery?
Your incisions will be covered with bandages and dressings, and you may be asked to wear a compression garment to reduce swelling. Typically, these garments go from the abdomen to the knees. You may have drainage tubes placed under your skin to collect excess fluid or blood following the thigh lift procedure.
You will need to rest for at least a few days post-surgery and can expect to be out of work for anywhere between 10 days to two weeks. Most swelling should resolve within a month, and full activities can be resumed in approximately four months.
You will notice a difference in your thighs right away, but the full results may not be visible for up to three months. If you maintain a healthy lifestyle, you can enjoy your new, slimmer thighs for a lifetime.
Is a Thigh Lift/Thigh Gap Surgery Right for Me?
If you have tried to achieve thinner thighs through diet and exercise but have failed to see the results you want, you might be a good candidate for a thigh lift. You should be in good overall health with no chronic medical conditions that might increase the risk of bleeding or impede the healing process. You should also be a non-smoker and committed to living a healthy lifestyle and maintaining a stable, healthy weight following the procedure.
How Much Does a Thigh Lift/Thigh Gap Surgery Cost?

Thigh lifts are not typically covered by insurance because they are elective in most cases. You may also choose to finance your thigh lift procedure through CareCredit® or Alphaeon™Credit. .
