Microneedling Skin Treatment
Microneedling is one of the newest crazes in cosmetics, and for good reason. This treatment triggers the body’s healing abilities to produce a range of cosmetic benefits. At the Georgia Center for Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, led by Dr. Joshua R. Groves, we offer several microneedling treatments to men and women living in Houston County, Warner Robins, and Macon, GA.
What is Microneedling Skin Treatment?
Microneedling is a cosmetic technique that involves making small punctures into the skin’s surface. These tiny wounds will trigger a healing response from the body. The body will begin to produce collagen and elastin to heal these wounds. Since the injuries are quite minor, they heal very quickly, and the body then has an excess of elastin and collagen to supply to the skin. Collagen and elastin will continue to strengthen the skin to alleviate and prevent signs of aging such as wrinkles, lines, and loose skin. We offer the following treatments to patients looking for microneedling skin treatments:
The traditional microneedling treatment is performed with a handheld device containing many small needles. During treatment, this device is applied to the skin to inflict controlled wounds in the desired treatment area.
Fractora is a fractional skin rejuvenation device that is a happy medium between fractional lasers and surgical procedures. The procedures is non-invasive and last approximately an hour.
- Improvement in skin complexion
- Reduction in skin irregularities, including wrinkles
- Younger-looking skin
- Little risk of inflammation
- No surgery, needles or cuts
Some patients may require multiple sessions to see optimal results. No anesthesia is required for Fractora treatments.
The Morpheus8 treatment targets the deeper layers of skin, instead of the surface. This contributes to much more significant improvements in signs of aging that can be seen throughout the face.

Is Microneedling Right for Me?
Microneedling skin treatments can be an excellent choice if you:
- Wish to eliminate wrinkles, lines, and loose skin
- Want to diminish the appearance of scars or acne scars
- Would like to enhance your complexion
What is the Microneedling Procedure Like?
During microneedling treatments, we may apply a topical anesthetic to the skin to minimize discomfort. Then, the microneedling device will be used to make small punctures in the skin. This process can take up to an hour depending on the device used and the areas being treated. Most patients notice results immediately after their first treatment, with continued results developing over the following weeks with additional sessions.
How Long is the Recovery After Microneedling?
After microneedling, we recommend that patients avoid the use of makeup for a day or two. The skin may be dry or sensitive, so it is important to keep the skin moisturized and protect it from the sun. Most patients are fully recovered after a week of treatment.
How Much Does Microneedling Cost?
The number of microneedling treatments needed to produce the desired results vary by patient, which is why it is not possible to provide you with an exact cost until after you have a consultation with Dr. Groves. During your consultation, we will discuss the cost, and go over our payment options to find one that best suits your needs.
Some procedures may be covered by medical insurance. Our staff is experienced in matters pertaining to insurance and will work with your carrier to get you maximum coverage. In the event a procedure is not covered, we offer financing through CareCredit® and Alphaeon™ Credit. We will be happy to assist in filling out the necessary application, or you may apply on the CareCredit® website prior to your appointment. We work with SunTrust Bank to offer low, fixed interest rate loans to patients with good to excellent credit for all cosmetic procedures, and also accept cash, personal checks, MasterCard®, Visa®, American Express®, and Discover® Card.
